Born and raised in Albuquerque New Mexico, Joseph Cuellar has brought his creative designs to the inside of the house. As a home designer and builder for the past 30 years he has expanded his design elements into art furniture.

Cuellar studied under Judy Chicago at the University of Irvine in the 70’s and had basically “shelfed” his painting until he found the medium he loved. Using a combination of exotic woods, carving and paint he now creates his passion.

Cuellar likes to use subjects that are native to New Mexico, the “Eye Dazzler” series was inspired by Navajo weavings. His “Botanical” series is inspired by indigenous plants and birds. Occassionally, his “hard-edge” side comes out and the results can be seen in his “Jacob’s Ladder Back Chairs”. Whatever the style or design that you like, you can be assured it is hand crafted.

Some of his pieces are designed with the individual needs and surroundings of the client in mind, many clients have asked that special pieces be made for a certain part of their house.
